Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Charity and the MY MRI Appeal

MY Hospitals Charity, the NHS charity that supports Pinderfields, Dewsbury and Pontefract Hospitals, is running the MY MRI Appeal to part-fund a new MRI suite for the Radiology Department at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.

This will benefit the100,000 local people that need an MRI or CT scan each year. On completion the MRI Appeal will provide state of the art scanning facilities for the local community including a new 3 Tesla MRI scanner giving an improved patient experience, for the first time carry out scans requiring general anaesthesia locally and thereby significantly reduce waiting and stress for children and families, increase scanning capacity, and open up the possibility of cutting edge research.

The hope is that the new suite will be built and supporting local communities by the end of the year, so there is a big push now to raise the required funds. One of the biggest events for the charity will be the Great North Run in Newcastle on 8th September. Places are still available. Runners for the charity will have access to the GNR Diamond Package, giving free access to virtual training support, masterclasses and free refreshments.
