People Enabling Area Transformation (PEAT) Project



Employment training and business support delivered by the community, for the community.

Wakefield’s PEAT Project is a Community Led Local Development (CLLD) Programme that is part financed by the European Structural and Investment Fund, and will run until 2022 in the areas of Airedale, Castleford, Ferrybridge, Havercroft & Ryhill, Kinsley & Fitzwilliam, South Elmsall & South Kirkby and Hemsworth.

PEAT delivery partners have the power to shape interventions that will support local people and businesses to grow and access opportunities.

Support for Individuals

Do you want to improve your skills and get help to find a new job? Tailor made support is available to people 18 or over living in the eligible areas to access education, training or employment opportunities. Our delivery partners can provide:

  • Personalised support plans
  • Emotional health & wellbeing support
  • Raising aspirations and confidence building
  • Interview skills & CV writing
  • 1:1 mentoring
  • Training opportunities
  • Job search support
  • Work placements with employers

Support for Entrepreneurs and Businesses

Do you want to become an entrepreneur? Do you own a business and would you like to receive some support? Our PEAT deliverers provide a minimum of 12 hours of support for existing businesses and entrepreneurs. This support is tailored to your needs and could include:

  • Creating business plans
  • Interactive workshops and bite size training programmes
  • Networking events
  • 1:1 business support

Small grants between £1,000 and £20,000 are also available for new and existing small businesses, sole traders, social enterprises and voluntary/charitable organisations who have recently set up or want to develop their business or organisation.
