WAKEFIELD FIRST ANNOUNCES FIRST MAJOR BUSINESS EVENT

26 May 2022

Wakefield Council is to deliver its first, large scale business event since the start of the pandemic.

The event, ‘Connect Wakefield’, will showcase how economic wellbeing puts people at the heart of business growth.

It will take place over three days in June and there will be meetings and presentations across the district, including Wakefield city centre and Pontefract.

These have been organised with the aim of supporting businesses to achieve growth in a post-pandemic climate, celebrating Wakefield district as a place to do business, and providing a platform for businesses to connect with each other to build beneficial connections.

The event is organised by Wakefield First, the Council’s business support team that provides free and confidential advice to new and existing businesses of all sizes.

Large businesses, such as Coca-Cola Euro pacific partners and Sewtec Automation, will be on hand to inspire businesses in all sectors to build upon Wakefield’s already strong identity as a great place to do business.

Cllr Darren Byford, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Growth and Property, said: “Economic wellbeing is vital for the Wakefield district’s people, businesses and environment to thrive. It’s at the heart of our decisions and policies.

“Sustainability and thriving in the current economic climate will be one of many topics that will be under discussion and it’s a unique opportunity to meet likeminded professionals, to build relationships and access business support that is available to unlock your business potential.

“It will be an amazing few days and I’m really looking forward to meeting people from the business community, to discuss the way forward and making Wakefield an even better place to do business. I would encourage everyone to join us.”

Connect Wakefield will run from the 14 – 16 June 2022.

The full programme of events will be announced shortly.
