Why Visit spotlight for Wakefield
16 February 2017
Amid the news that Wakefield’s Cultural Consortium has been awarded £223,000 through Arts Council England’s Cultural Destinations initiative, Bondholders first Friday will be looking at what exciting opportunities this presents to local businesses.
Welcoming Jenny Layfield, one of the founding members of the consortium and General Manager of Nostell National Trust, we’ll find out what the Destination Funds means to the district’s ‘Why Visit’ offering.
Jenny will also showcase why developing great partnerships will be vital to increasing visitors, raising the profile of the city and further developing the district’s economy. We’ll hear about the bid process, consortium partners and the opportunity for visitor businesses including local attractions, hospitality and nighttime venues to be involved in the group and its plan.
In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week (6th -10th March) and with the aim of raising awareness of how much apprentices can bring to your business, the March first Friday will be brought to you by a team of nine apprentices from Wakefield Council who will be on hand to welcome, facilitate, network and help you to enjoy the event.
The team will also deliver a very special presentation as part of The Brathay Challenge, a national competition which pitches teams of apprentices against each other with the goal of raising awareness of apprenticeships amongst business, young people and parents. With our help, the team could bring the Apprentice Team of the Year Award back to Wakefield!
Bondholder first Friday’s continue to be a must attend networking event. In February, more than 120 delegates attended, each with ambition and a passion for Wakefield.
The March First Friday will be chaired by Adrian Spawforth. It takes place on Friday 3rd March from 8:45am to 11:00am in The Conference Room next to Gaskills Restaurant, Wakefield College, Wakefield City Campus, Margaret Street, Wakefield, WF1 2DH.
