Keepmoat Committed to Kinsley Development

Keepmoat has been granted planning permission to build 100 new homes in Kinsley, Wakefield, marking another milestone in West Yorkshire for the housing and community regeneration specialist.

The firm, which recently expanded in the region with the launch of an office in Leeds, has now secured three major projects in as many months, with work on brownfield developments across Leeds, as well as the Seacroft Hospital site already in the pipeline.

Keepmoat will now deliver two and three bedroom homes at land off Spring Close; prompted by the success of existing schemes at Fitzwilliam and Frickley.

Keepmoat’s Kinsley development is the latest in the Wakefield district involving a ‘stalled site’ – land which had previously had planning permission but remained undeveloped.  Last week Wakefield Council launched its ‘Wakefield Builds’ campaign which aims to increase the number of new homes built across the district through schemes such as matching developers with stalled sites such as the one in Kinsley.

Ian Hoad, operations director for Keepmoat in Yorkshire West, said:

“Mounting demand for much needed new houses, coupled with the unrelenting interest at our developments in Fitzwilliam and Frickley, made this land an incredibly attractive offering. There is a clear demand for both new homes and lucrative initiatives like Help to Buy to support first time buyers get that all important first step on the housing ladder; and we have witnessed this first hand in Wakefield.  We’re committed to creating a lasting legacy in the area and are delighted to be building our partnership with Wakefield City Council. This is also a major feat for our expanding Yorkshire West division and attests our vision for bringing more quality, affordable homes to the region.  More importantly, our employees and subcontractors on site will benefit from the continued work we are securing; allowing for a natural transition from one scheme to the next in close proximity.”

Councillor Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Skills, said:

Building work on the new homes is expected to progress in November this year.
