MASTER CHEF WILL BE TALKING INGREDIENTS FOR A STRONG WAKEFIELD ECONOMY AT THE NEXT BONDHOLDERS FIRST FRIDAY.....
Fri 15 Jun 2018
Utilising locally sourced ingredients to whip up a recipe for success, MasterChef quarter finalist, Chris Hale will show Bondholders an alternative way to support the local economy, when he delivers a cooking demo at Bondholders next first Friday event on 6th July at Wakefield College.
As Founder of catering business Pop Up North and Executive Chef at The Hepworth Gallery, Chris is himself a proud home-grown member of the Wakefield business community who is keen to encourage people to think more about where they spend their hard-earned cash.
Insisting that no matter what the industry, we can all make small contributions which together lead to a more prosperous local economy, Chris will demonstrate how, through using quality local food producers he can serve up a flavoursome dish which supports local farmers and food suppliers.
“I think most of us are a little inclined to presume that the local economy is not ours to improve but, by making some small adjustments which are as simple as shopping local wherever possible, we can actually have a long-term impact on the prosperity of our local area.”
Predicting bright things for the future of Wakefield and its food industry, Chris is encouraged to see a rise in the popularity of ‘independents’ within the city and believes that, with even more support from businesses and the wider community, this trend can continue.
“These days people are dining out less but, having said that, when they do go out to eat we’re finding that they are willing to pay that little more for quality. That being the case, we’re lucky that we can go the extra mile to buy local whilst still offering great value.”
Melissa Armitage, Manager at Wakefield Bondholders, comments:
“Hearing about the impacts of shopping local is an important lesson for us all. There are so many fantastic businesses in Wakefield which straddle all industries, there really is no excuse not to support that entrepreneurial spirit. We’re excited to hear more from Chris and I for one can’t wait to sample whatever culinary treat he has in store for us!”
Following the cooking demo, where Chris will be serving up a spectacular but simple, healthy dish, Bondholders will see the return of its popular speed networking which will encourage members to mingle and make new business connections within a friendly and informal environment.
Taking place at Wakefield College from 8.45am, the first Friday event combines networking opportunities with breakfast at a cost of £12.00 per person for advanced bookings and £15.00 per person on the day.
