Life of Pie
Just Like it started, Eric Richmond’s commitment and work ethic is ever growing with the latest addition to their 15 strong team, Dan Channer.
Via the ‘Access to Community and Employment’ scheme, after completing his time as a student at Pennine Camphill Wakefield and despite his learning difficulties plus mobility issues, Dan has showcased his skills becoming an instrumental part of the team for the champion butchers and Award winning Pie makers in Ossett.
Dan started with just two hours per week and quickly showed his flair for preparing pastries and pasties to shop standard.
MD Tom Martin said “He really has impressed the team here … It’s not just about the work we have for Dan, it’s about what he brings to us. The whole team look forward to the days he works with us, everyone likes him and wants him to succeed. Unfortunately there is a stigma around people with learning disabilities and people frequently are faced with being told what they can’t do rather than finding out what others are actually good at & allowing these individuals to show their talents”
So what’s next on the agenda for the Eric Richmond team you might be thinking .. Tom Martin went on to tell us how it’s time to pull out all the stops for the Christmas rush. Christmas is an extremely busy time for the company making 4 x as many pies as any other week in the year and each of those pies is probably 4 x as big. The pièce de résistance for Christmas are their specialist festive recipe pies, including, Game, Ham and the traditional turkey with cranberry sauce & stuffing pies. Of course, it goes without saying that all Eric Richmond ingredients are sourced as locally as possible. Showcasing their individuality and hand made products Eric Richmond are always happy to create customers owns recipes. To find out more about Eric Richmond and their ethos visit www.meatandpie.co.uk
