Wakefield Tourism Conference

Venue: The Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield, WF1 5AW
This free event is an unmissable opportunity for all tourism and hospitality businesses to come together to learn about plans for tourism in the Wakefield District and the wider West Yorkshire region and discover how they can get involved.
Morning sessions will focus on key strategic themes including updates from the West Yorkshire regional LVEP, a presentation of the Wakefield Destination Management Plan as well as panels and presentations. The afternoon format will allow attendees to break out into workshops to focus on key themes such as digital marketing, accessibility and others. You can see the full agenda below:

- 9.30am Welcome - Cllr Michelle Collins, Portfolio Holder for Arts, Culture & Leisure, Wakefield Council
- 9.40am The Wakefield Destination Management Plan (led by Blue Sail)
- 10.40am Tourism intro, Paul Szomoru, Visit England – talk on national recovery policy progress and intro to LVEP
- 11am Coffee Break
- 11.30am Intro to Our Year – Wakefield District 2024 – Jenny Rogers, Wakefield Council
- 11.50am Panel on opportunities for tourism businesses in the Wakefield District
- 12.30pm Lunch/networking (option tour of gallery at 1.30pm)
- 2pm Workshop 1: Delve deeper into the Wakefield Destination Management Plan (room 2) led by Blue Sail OR Workshop 2: Digital marketing for hospitality and tourism businesses (main room) led by Northern Media
