Wakefield pub to pour more than 50 different ales at beer festival
More than 50 ales from more than 20 breweries will be available at a Wakefield pub next month.
The three-day festival will take place at The Black Rock on Cross Square from Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20, with the pub undergoing a temporary transformation to accommodate the event.
Organisers say the beer line-up will include a number of “never seen before” ales, September specials and some of the pub's regular favourites.
Two additional bars will be installed downstairs for the festival, replacing some of the pub's existing fixed seating.
Upstairs, a new rack capable of holding 24 casks is being built, while further beer will be stored in the cellar.
More than 20 breweries are expected to be represented, with the event aimed at showcasing beers from local and regional brewers.
Food will also be available throughout the weekend. Cafe 19 will serve giant hot dogs topped with beer-braised onions, while other local food vendors will also be operating during the festival.
Entry to the festival is free, but the event is strictly for people aged 18 and over.
Beer will be sold using tokens costing £2.50 each, with one token equivalent to a half-pint.
Visitors can also buy five tokens for £10 or 10 for £20, with the 10-token option including a free festival-branded half-pint glass.
