Wakefield fish and chip shop celebrates after being named best chippy in Yorkshire and Humber
A much-loved Wakefield chippy has been named the Best Fish and Chips in Yorkshire and Humber.
The accolade for The Codfather came as the winners of the 2026 English Fish and Chip Awards were crowned.
The victors were named at a big event held in Manchester.
Owner, Ilham Shamchiyev, said he and the whole team are ‘absolutely delighted and incredibly proud’ to have won.
"This award means a huge amount to us,” he said.
"From the day we opened, our goal has always been to serve the highest quality fish and chips using premium ingredients and to give our customers the very best experience.
"Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and we’re extremely grateful to our loyal customers for their continued support.
