What started in 2019 as a handful of local meetups has grown into one of Yorkshire’s largest networks for female founders. The network deliberately steps away from intimidating or transactional "hustle culture" environments, focusing instead on creating inclusive, low-pressure spaces where community comes before commerce—a mission deeply rooted in the founder's own journey and diagnosis of autism and ADHD in her forties.

Many brilliant business owners work from kitchen tables or spare bedrooms without colleagues or encouragement. We are here to create a warm, relaxed space where genuine relationships and friendships matter more than hard selling.”

Looking ahead, Connect Women in Biz is expanding its support with new training programmes and enhanced visibility services. With a passionate belief in the district's creative and collaborative spirit, the network is dedicated to shining a light on local talent and helping establish Wakefield as one of the UK’s premier destinations for women to start and grow a business.
