Wakefield-based homebuilder donates life-saving defibrillator to Altofts venue

17 Aug 2026

Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire has donated a public access defibrillator (PAD) to a charity-run community venue in Altofts.

The defibrillator will be located inside the The Brig, on St Mary’s Road, and will help to provide vital support in the event of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

As part of a joint initiative with the British Heart Foundation (BHF), the Wakefield-based homebuilder is donating life-saving PADs to communities around the UK.

The Brig, which is owned and managed by Altofts Community and Sports Foundation, aims to promote health, social and community-based opportunities for all residents in the wider Altofts area.

Sam Evans, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “Our partnership with the BHF is vitally important in helping to ensure that more defibrillators are available for people who might need them.

"We are pleased to have made this donation to The Brig.”

The Brig regularly hosts fitness classes, sports groups and village groups.

It is also home to The Brigeteers, a club which supports people with severe mental or physical challenges and houses The Bar At The Brig, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of the charity.

David Norris, spokesperson for The Brig, said: “We can’t thank Taylor Wimpey enough for this donation.

"While we hope that we don’t have to use it, it’s reassuring to know that we can access a defibrillator in the event of an emergency and hopefully help to save someone’s life.”
