A new indoor role play village for young children in set to open in Wakefield city centre.

The Little Terrace will cater for children aged one to eight, offering a fun ‘mini village’ to explore different roles, at 56 Northgate in the city centre.

Owner Rosie Flynn said she is ‘really excited’ to be opening the new village, which should be finished around July.

“The idea actually came from my own experience as a mum,” Rosie said.

"I have a two-year-old daughter, Amelia, who absolutely loves role play and imaginative play, but I struggled to find a local space that was fully dedicated to it in a safe, immersive environment.

"That’s what inspired me to create something of my own.

“I wanted to build a space where children can step into a ‘mini village’ and explore real-life roles through play with things like a café, shop, home corner, and other themed areas designed to encourage creativity, confidence, and early social development.”

Rosie said The Little Terrace is very much a child-led environment where, she hopes, families will feel relaxed, welcomed and able to enjoy meaningful playtime together.”
