Tenpin at Trinity Walk: Work progressing on huge leisure destination - creating 40 jobs

03 Dec 2025

Work is progressing on the major Tenpin project at Trinity Walk shopping centre, which will transform the entire top floor of the old Debenhams store into a huge new leisure destination.

Tenpin is now aiming to open in late spring 2026, bringing a variety of new experiences to Wakefield city centre, all under one roof.

The new centre is expected to create around 40 jobs.

Marc Couget, Regional Manager for Tenpin, said: “This is a massive project for us, for Wakefield and for Trinity Walk – and we’re all really excited because this will be game-changing.

“It’s a major piece of work converting a former Debenhams store into a leisure complex, but a lot of the demolition and prep work has been completed, meaning Tenpin can begin our fitout soon.

“Once completed, it will be home to 24 tenpin bowling lanes, two karaoke rooms, a laser tag arena, arcade area, interactive darts, three escape rooms, pool tables and cocktail bar and diner. That really is some mix.

“The response we’ve had from the Wakefield and Yorkshire public has been overwhelmingly positive and it’s humbling to see that we are bringing something here that people have wanted in the city centre for so long.”

Tenpin bosses added the venue will really begin to take shape from the new year onwards as they work towards a late spring opening.

James White, Trinity Walk’s Centre Manager, said: “When we announced Tenpin would be joining us, the response was one of the biggest we’ve ever had – and overwhelmingly positive.

"This is something the people of Wakefield want – and have wanted for many, many years.

"It’s brilliant to be able to attract such an industry leader in Tenpin and play home to a leisure experience that will take our already hugely successful shopping centre onto the next level.

“2024 saw us enjoy a record year for footfall, 2025 saw us named a finalist in the destination shopping centre of the year category at the Sceptre Awards – the industry’s ‘Oscars’ – and 2026 is already shaping up to be another massive year.

“Add in the huge number of new brands we’ve attracted in recent years, with more to come, and the future looks bright for Trinity Walk and Wakefield.”
