In his acceptance speech, Owen said: "The past year has been a complete whirlwind for me and my family.

"Honestly, it’s changed our lives forever and we’re forever grateful.”

"Receiving this award means more to me than I can put even into words, to be standing here with you all tonight is something that I’ll never forget."

His co-stars Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty were also respectively awarded best actor and best supporting actress in a limited series at the prestigious awards ceremony, which took place in Santa Monica on January 4.

Accepting his award, co-creator and star Stephen Graham said: “I'd like to thank all the cast and crew, because without any one of them, none of this is possible.

“We're all exactly the same.

"When I was a kid, my mum told me ‘You're never above anyone and you're never below anyone,’ so we're all equal.

"And I think the ethos that we carried into this piece, that paid off in this production.”

The one-shot crime series, which follows a family when their 13-year-old son is arrested for the murder of a classmate, was filmed in the South Kirkby-based production studios, Production Park, over six months in 2024.

Most of the action was filmed on-site and in areas a short driving distance from the base – with one South Kirkby home also featured.

Mark Herbert, joint CEO of WARP Films, previously said of the production: “The series posed a major challenge for us with the one-shot element so we needed a studio space that could match our technical needs but also provide a home for the crew and actors during the whole process.

“We loved working at Production Park and it was a great space to build our sets, and the day to day working atmosphere was fantastic – I will certainly film there again.”
