30 Oct 2026

Yorkshire cheesemongers Cryer & Stott are celebrating a hat-trick of prestigious award nominations, recognising both their commitment to British artisan cheese and their growing success as cheese manufacturers.

The family-run business, based in Allerton Bywater, West Yorkshire, has been named a finalist in three categories across two of the region's most respected awards.

At the Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards 2026, Cryer & Stott have been shortlisted for Best Wholesaler/Distributor and Best Yorkshire Cheese for their King Charles III Truffle Cheddar.

Adding to the celebrations, the business has also been named a finalist in the Manufacturing category at the Yorkshire Post Business Awards 2026.

While all three nominations are a tremendous achievement, the recognition for Best Yorkshire Cheese and Manufacturing holds particular significance for the company, which has only recently expanded into producing its own cheeses in-house.

Having built a reputation over almost three decades for sourcing, supplying and championing exceptional British artisan cheeses, Cryer & Stott have taken their expertise one step further, investing in their own cheese production and blending facilities.

This exciting development has allowed the business to combine traditional cheesemaking knowledge with innovative flavours, creating distinctive cheeses that celebrate Yorkshire's rich food heritage.

Their King Charles III Truffle Cheddar, which has also been awarded Gold at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards 2026, is a shining example of this ambition.

Richard Holmes MBE, Managing Director of Cryer & Stott, said:

"To be shortlisted for three awards is absolutely fantastic, but to receive recognition for both our cheese and our manufacturing is particularly special.

"We've spent nearly 30 years working with some of the finest cheesemakers in the country, learning about their craft, understanding what makes a truly exceptional cheese and sharing that passion with our customers.

"Moving into producing our own cheeses was a big step for us, and one we've invested a great deal of time, hard work and passion into. To now be recognised alongside established cheesemakers and manufacturers gives us real confidence that we're doing things right.

"We're incredibly proud of our team. These nominations are a reflection of their dedication, enthusiasm and willingness to embrace something new whilst maintaining the standards we've always stood for."

The Best Wholesaler/Distributor nomination also recognises the company's continued growth as a supplier of artisan cheeses and fine foods to farm shops, delicatessens, hotels, restaurants and major sporting stadiums across the UK.

Despite its expansion, Cryer & Stott remains firmly rooted in its family values, with a commitment to supporting independent producers, championing provenance and bringing exceptional British food to a wider audience.

With further product innovation already underway, the business hopes these latest nominations mark just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in its cheesemaking journey.
