Regenerated former swimming baths site will accommodate dozens of homes
A Vico Homes development off Aketon Road in Castleford will create 69 homes, with 52 for social rent and 17 available to buy with shared ownership.
Built by Esh Construction, the site will regenerate the former Castleford Swimming Baths, which closed in 2017.
This has been made possible through funding from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Brownfield Housing Fund, alongside grant funding from West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Wakefield Council and Homes England.
James Kilroy, head of new business and delivery for Vico Homes, said: “We’re proud to be bringing these much-needed affordable homes to Castleford, giving more local people the opportunity to put down roots in a safe, high-quality home.
“This development is an important step towards our ambition to provide 10,000 more homes over the next 10 years.”

Councillor Andrew Wakefield, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for strategic, housing, skills and business growth, said: “It’s great to see this former council site being transformed to provide affordable homes for local people.”
