Pontefract pub completes £165,000 refurbishment
A Pontefract pub has completed a £165,000 refurbishment aimed at creating an improved space for customers while retaining its traditional character.
The Church House on Barnsley Road has undergone a series of changes following investment from licensee Dean Lyth and community pub company Admiral Taverns.
The work has included extending the pub’s games room, refreshing the interior with new fixtures, furniture and decor, and creating new outdoor facilities including a beer garden, sports viewing area and outdoor bar.
The new outdoor areas include heating and lighting to allow customers to use the spaces throughout the year, while the outdoor bar is designed to support service during busy periods and sporting events.
Licensee Dean Lyth said: “It has been absolutely fantastic to see this refurbishment come to life and the finished product is incredible.
“The Church House is a proper village pub and a real community hub, and I look forward to serving locals for many years to come.”
The pub will continue to offer a food menu featuring traditional pub favourites, including burgers, pies and fish and chips, as well as a Sunday carvery.
A programme of regular entertainment is also planned, including DJs, live bands and karaoke, with the pub also intending to support charities and fundraising events for local causes.
