Plan for new Bull Ring bar and tattoo studio
Plans have been submitted to open a new bar and tattoo studio in Wakefield city centre.
The scheme includes converting a retail unit on the Bull Ring into a new business on three floors of the property, which dates back to the early 19th Century.
Proposals lodged on behalf of applicant Danny Tymon include operating the bar on the ground and first floors and locating the tattoo studio on the second floor.
A heritage statement said the Grade II-listed building is within a conservation area and occupies a “prominent site” fronting the Bull Ring, one of the oldest civic and commercial spaces in central Wakefield.
No external works or alterations to the building are proposed.
The document said: “All original windows, shop front, and external architectural elements will be retained and preserved.
“The proposed change of use will preserve the significance of the listed building and its setting by maintaining all heritage-significant external and structural features.
“The development will preserve the building’s special architectural and historic interest and maintain the character and appearance of the Wakefield Conservation Area.”
