Pets at Home plans new illuminated sign at Wakefield retail park store
A Wakefield pet store could soon get a fresh new look if plans for updated signage are approved.
Pets at Home has submitted an application to install a range of new advertising signs at its unit in Westgate Retail and Leisure Park on Ings Road, to modernise the store’s exterior.
The proposals, prepared by Image Technique Ltd, include internally illuminated fascia signs, flexface displays, window vinyl graphics, poster cases and smaller tenant signage.
The designs feature a teal, ecru and green colour scheme, with some illuminated elements mounted across the shopfront and apex of the building at a static brightness of around 300 cd/m².
Consent is being sought for a five-year period from April 2026 to April 2031.
The plans are intended to refresh the appearance of the store within the existing retail park setting.
Wakefield Council will now consider the application, assessing its visual impact, lighting levels and effects on the surrounding area before making a decision.
