Enchanted Village coming to Pontefract town centre
Two Pontefract mums who became friends while working as Pinderfields Hospital nurses are set to open a new children's role play village.
Paediatric nurses Ella Gusterson and Charlotte Dean are hoping to open the Enchanted Village on Cornmarket in Pontefract town centre at the end of September.
Ella and Charlotte met at work two years ago when both their children were toddlers and they soon started going to soft play areas with their families.
Charlotte said there were no dedicated children's role play centres in Pontefract so they decided to look at options of starting their own business.
When the former Prince of Wales Hospice shop unit on Cornmarket became available they went for it.
They continue to work as nurses and between shifts are busy transforming the shop into a children’s role play centre set to be called the Enchanted Village.
Charlotte said: "Our idea was to create something a little different in the sense of an area where parents or carers can meet, enjoy a coffee and food whilst their children explore and have fun in the world of role play.
"We knew our girls absolutely love role play and we have seen how beneficial it is to little minds, so what more rewarding than being able to bring this to Pontefract."
Role play houses at the Enchanted Village will include a supermarket, hospital, fire station and a princess castle.
There will also be a construction corner, farm and garden.
Ella and Charlotte said there will also be a café for parents and carers and an area for babies.
They are planning to hold regular sessions for children with additional needs.
Ella said: "The reaction has been really positive. A lot of people are saying it's definitely what the area is missing. We already have party bookings."
