Castleford deli celebrates 150 years serving the community
A family-run deli in Castleford is preparing to celebrate a remarkable milestone after serving generations of customers for 150 years.
Schofields the Deli, which was established in 1876, will mark its 150th anniversary at the end of the month.
Owner Rebecca Hempshell said: "We are going to be celebrating a huge milestone for the deli at the end of this month.
"Established in 1876, the business has traded continuously through generations and has witnessed significant changes in the town over the past century and a half.
"Over the course of its history, the business has survived and adapted through world wars, economic recessions, and more recently the Covid-19 pandemic, while continuing to serve generations of local customers.
"We have preserved many of the traditions that have made the deli a local institution while evolving to meet the needs of today's community."
Schofields is open 9am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sundays.
