Care group accelerates growth with acquisition of four homes in Yorkshire
Wakefield-based Strong Life Care has completed the acquisition of four care homes from MMCG.
The deal brings Croft House Nursing Home in Gawthorpe, Howgate House Care Home in Idle, Bradford, Manor Park Nursing Home in Cutsyke, Castleford, and Belmont House Nursing Home in Harrogate into the Strong Life Care (SLC) portfolio, further strengthening its presence across Yorkshire.
The acquisition represents the latest phase of a period of growth for Strong Life Care.
It was founded in 2010 and now operates a growing portfolio of care homes across Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and County Durham, providing residential, nursing and dementia care.
The group’s long-term strategy is to build a nationwide portfolio of quality care homes while remaining independently family-owned.
The group has emphasised that it is “business as usual” for residents and their relatives, with existing teams continuing to provide care and support.
Harpreet Banwait, group chairman, said: “Growth is an important part of our strategy, but every acquisition we make is ultimately about people.
“These four homes have their own communities, residents, families and dedicated teams. We recognise and respect the work that has already gone into each of them, and our immediate priority is to make colleagues and residents feel welcomed, supported and very much part of the Strong Life Care family.
“Our philosophy has always been to invest in our people and our homes. We want to provide our teams with the environment, resources and opportunities they need to deliver exceptional care, while creating warm, homely places where residents feel safe, valued and genuinely at home.
“We have significant ambitions for Strong Life Care, but our growth will remain disciplined and focused on quality. We believe we can build a substantial national care organisation without losing the family values and personal approach that have brought us this far.”
James Hopkins, chief executive officer of Strong Life Care, said: “This transaction is another important milestone in our long-term growth plan and gives us an even stronger platform from which to expand.
“Our ambition is clear: we want Strong Life Care to become the UK’s largest independent family-owned care provider.
“Achieving that requires the right acquisitions, continued investment in our existing portfolio and, crucially, attracting, developing and retaining outstanding people.
“Scale brings opportunities to invest further in our homes, technology, training, career development and resident experience. But as we grow, we are equally determined to retain what makes a family-owned care business different.”
Strong Life Care has experienced expansion over the past 12 months and said it expects to make further acquisitions.
It acknowledged the contribution of organisations and professional advisers involved in bringing the latest transaction to completion, including CareTrust REIT and Bevan Brittan.
Banwait added: “Transactions of this scale require a considerable amount of work behind the scenes. We would like to recognise CareTrust REIT, Bevan Brittan and all of the professional teams involved for their contribution to completing the acquisition and supporting a smooth transition.
“We now look forward to the next stage – investing in these homes, supporting our new colleagues and, most importantly, continuing to deliver the quality of care our residents and their families expect.”
