The Business Model Canvas is a really practical tool allows business owners to articulae their business model and check that their business is (a) desirable; (b) feasible and (c) viable.  It is one of the most versatile tools an SME can have in their toolkit and can be used in a variety of ways including strategic planning.

This is a practical workshop where you will work through your own business model, as well as having some fun on a case study!

The format of the session will be:

• An introduction to the model

• An explanation of each of the 9 boxes

• A case study - working in small groups and presented back

• Discussion around use of the model

• Brief overview of other ways to use the model to aid planning

• Time to work on own model

• Both hard and soft copies of the canvas will be made available to you

Key learning outcomes

1. You will understand the canvas and the nine building blocks  

2. You will be able to model your own business onto the canvas  

3. You will be confident in using it as a planning tool
