OE Electrics Ltd. has been servicing the office interiors market since 1993 and has become a name well-recognised within the industry. Thanks to this long-term success, along with a move to their new 65,000 sf purpose-built facility in Calder Park last year, the 2017 ‘Wakefield Business of the Year’, now has the infrastructure to expand beyond that of just offices. Endeavouring into new areas of leisure and hospitality, OE Electrics is working with leaders in the most up-and-coming sectors to assist with their electrical distribution requirements.

Manufacturing power sockets and USB charging solutions, OE Electrics helps those of us working with laptops, mobile phones or tablets to keep our devices charged so we can keep working and avoid the stresses of a low battery. A recent New York Times article said that last year 43% of us spent at least some time working remotely. Hence, proving the office is no longer the only place we get work done.

As more of us travel for business, working from coffee shops, co-working spaces and hotel lobbies; the rise of agile working, remote working and the gig economy has led to a huge rise in demand for solutions to keep our device batteries charged. With innovation at the heart of everything they do, OE Electrics has responded to this demand, by introducing its products into markets far outside that of the standard office. This boundary pushing business are undeniably putting Wakefield on the map among the electrical manufacturing industry.

OE Electrics’ products are proudly manufactured in the Wakefield facility, currently employing 165 people, mostly from the Wakefield area. This summer, OE Electrics partnered with Wakefield College to offer an apprenticeship programme to local engineering students. Following an exhibition on 25th and 26th of September, as part of Hotel & Spa Tech Live Expo at London’s ExCeL - a show that saw attendance levels upwards of 30,000 delegates from the hospitality industry – the company shows their continuous support for their local community, as the headline sponsor for this year’s ‘Wakefield Business Week’, running from the 1st to the 5th of October. The event will bring together those who are passionate about the city and the district within which they work and have chosen to be located.
