From Handmade To Hand-Baked – Created In Yorkshire Expand Offering

24 November 2014

Created in Yorkshire, the co-operative craft store based at The Ridings Shopping Centre in Wakefield has expanded its offering to include hand-baked breads by welcoming local bakehouse Time Bakery.

Adding another dimension to the store, which already stocks handcrafted products including jewellery, clothing, art and upcycled vintage pieces from 30 local crafters, shoppers can now purchase a range of freshly made artisan breads and sweet baked products from Created in Yorkshire on a daily basis.

Lynne Thompson, who manages Created in Yorkshire comments:

“We are thrilled to welcome Time Bakery as a new stockist. Having recently introduced food produce from Brew Master Tea and jams and chutneys from KT Kitchens, we hope that this addition of freshly baked breads will build upon our appeal to shoppers.

“I was approached by Kevan and Kathryn Roberts, the husband and wife team behind Time Bakery, about five months ago, they were keen to move into The Ridings without having to commit to a permanent store and saw Created in Yorkshire as the ideal place to branch out.”

She adds:

“We now plan to attract further interest from other local food producers and transform a section of Created in Yorkshire into a Home Kitchen. The Home Kitchen will expand our offering to include foods as well as craft, and it will also provide budding entrepreneurs with an ideal platform to test their goods within the market for the very first time.”

From scones to focaccia shoppers can enjoy a selection of products that are baked fresh and delivered daily. The team are also helping to make a difference locally by donating bread, left over each day, to the food bank at the Community Awareness Programme (CAP Care).

Opened in 2012, Created in Yorkshire has gone from strength to strength and now stocks handmade goods from over 30 independent retailers. As a first for the City, each retailer plays a role in manning the store and selling the goods of fellow artists and craft people.
