Xamax Supports Schools With Launch Of Road Safety Campaign
07 November 2014
A local clothing manufacturer based on Roundwood Industrial Estate in Wakefield has put road safety firmly on the agenda, thanks to a donation of 3,000 hi visibility waistcoats worth £10,000 that the organisation is offering to primary schools throughout the city.
With the days becoming shorter, the team at Xamax want to do all they can to ensure that young pupils are safe and seen while walking to and from school during the winter months.
All of the waistcoats donated will be individually branded with the logos from each school to create further awareness for those taking part and local radio station Ridings FM will also show their support throughout the campaign.
Managing Director of Xamax, Graham Thompson comments
“As the dark nights draw in we want to make sure that the youngest members of our community are as safe as they can be during their walk to and from school. It is important as a business that we invest in the local area and that we give back wherever possible.
“Wearing bright clothing such as a hi visibility waistcoat is so simple and a great way for these young children to remain visible; we are hoping that our donation will encourage them to be both safe and seen.”
Over the coming weeks, Xamax will be contacting all of the primary schools in Wakefield to offer the hi visibility waistcoats free of charge. The waistcoats will then be individually branded with the school’s logo before being delivered by the company at the end of November.
Extending the initiative, Xamax will be also be launching a competition in association with Ridings FM to offer three further schools from the wider Wakefield district the chance to receive up to 100 hi visibility waistcoats each.
