PHD Marketing Lends Voluntary Support to The Sparkle Foundation
07 August 2017
West Yorkshire marketing and strategy agency, PHD Marketing, has lent its voluntary expertise to The Sparkle Foundation - a charity that focuses on the health, education, nutrition and sustainability of communities in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries.
The charity currently works with orphans and vulnerable children across 10 rural villages in an area that – like much of Malawi – is struggling to surmount generations of economic and public health challenges.
Malawi’s HIV-Aids problem is one of the worst globally, with more than one million children left orphaned and tens of thousands of its citizens dying each year from the disease. 45 per cent of the country’s 18 million population is under the age of 15, leading to abject childhood poverty. The Sparkle Foundation works with some of these children and empowers them up to the age of 18 to develop sustainable ways to escape from the cycle of disadvantage.
PHD Marketing will be supporting the charity’s work by providing voluntary assistance in PR, social media, content and design. Their key objectives will be to help increase revenue, strengthen volunteer recruitment and build brand awareness via digital campaigns and by boosting engagement.
Joanna Stephenson, Managing Director of PHD Marketing said: ‘‘We heard about The Sparkle Foundation through one of our clients and after learning about its invaluable work we simply had to help. The staff and volunteers’ commitment to such important, heartrending work is truly inspiring and we’re thrilled to be able to offer whatever assistance we can.’’
Sarah Brook, CEO and founder of The Sparkle Foundation added: ‘‘Having PHD Marketing’s support will make a huge difference to our work. There’s so much for us to do on the ground that it’s a struggle to leverage the marketing and PR strategy to its full potential. Having their backing will make a huge difference to our brand awareness and revenue generation.’’
Partnering with local and international volunteers, The Sparkle Foundation is a UK-registered charity and international NGO which sets up sustainable small-scale projects to help give disadvantaged children hope for a brighter future. Their vision is to develop a self-sufficient model which can be replicated in communities around the world, with long-term sustainable impact at the heart of everything they do.
Focussing on generating incomes rather than relying on international donations, the social enterprise helps individuals and communities to use their natural resources, experience and ideas to overcome poverty.
PHD Marketing is a Pontefract-based agency which provides marketing and communications services to distribution, manufacturing, technology and science businesses in the UK and internationally. An end-to-end marketing solutions provider, the agency delivers a range of services from brand development and management to PR and digital content marketing.
