Wakefield First's Maker of the Month: Beth Morgan: Artist

15 August 2023

Beth Morgan is a Wakefield-based Artist who is known for her stunning murals and beautiful paintings. Her art can be found all over the city including being showcased at the Ridings Shopping Centre, Anglers Country Park, The Art House and various other exciting spots.

Wakefield First got in touch with Beth to explore more about her brilliant artwork.

“I am an artist who loves vibrant colours and bold shapes. I create paintings and murals that brighten up spaces both internally and externally. I have been creating most of my life but received my first formal mural commission in 2020, a large sunflower mural for the Art House, and have been painting murals ever since! I’m passionate about bringing art to the public in non-traditional places, creating work that is accessible to all and brings joy.”

“Wakefield is brilliant for artists and creatives due to the number of creative organisations that call Wakefield their home, such as The Art House and The Hepworth. There is so much support and opportunities available, alongside a wonderful community of other makers, it makes it a great place to have a creative business.”

“I love all the murals that I have created so far, however I think the one that I would class as my favourite is ‘A Walk in Wakefield’ which can be found in a stairwell of the Ridings. This project was commissioned by ArtWalk Wakefield, and I was given full creative freedom over the design. I also recently painted a mural for Anglers Country Park. This is my largest mural to date and was certainly a challenge but so rewarding to see if finished and hear such positive comments from the public.”

“I’m starting to work on creating a retail element of my business, using my designs to create items for the home and person – watch this space! I’m also available to take on more mural commissions so if you’re wanting to brighten up a space please get in touch!”
