Mosaic International -Supplier Audits

14 January 2021

(Mosaic International are looking for a small group of businesses to help to trial out their service)

Do you have a supply chain in Southeast Asia? Are you having difficulty carrying out a supplier audit in the last 9 months? Do you need an ‘on the ground’ supplier audit solution?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of the above, read on.

We understand that supply chain management is important to ensure quality is maintained, standards are followed, and compliance is actively monitored. These are responsibilities that companies cannot avoid.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, supplier audit visits have become extremely difficult as countries in Southeast Asia impose strict travel restrictions, enforced quarantines and, not to mention, the risk of having senior team members travelling internationally in the midst of pandemic.

Companies have resorted to the use of video conferencing platforms, but these are less rigorous, subject to availability of stable internet connection at the supplier location and the reality that the supplier controls the video camera. While a good short-term alternative, is not a solution. This methodology simply lacks the rigour that a physical site audit would have.

More importantly, it is questionable whether this is sufficiently robust to ensure that the company’s responsibilities are discharged.

At Mosaic International, we believe that we have a solution. We aim to provide an on-site physical audit of the supplier by one of our auditors based in the country. We will be matching the skill sets of the auditor with the level of audit required by you. You would be able to communicate directly with the auditor at all stages, pre-audit, during the audit and post-audit.

Essentially, we would be providing a ‘man on the ground’ solution for you. Our auditor will work within your inhouse quality management systems and you will be able to specify any particular issues or concerns to raise with the supplier. If required, a video of the visit will be taken by the auditor to be kept as a record.

An outsourced service ultimately ensures that the auditor is acting solely in your interests. As the auditor is local of the supplier, they can provide information gained not simply on a technical basis but with an understanding of the culture. This intelligence may provide you with a competitive advantage.

From January 2021, we will be launching our supplier audit service for a few select companies limited to suppliers in Malaysia, at this stage. If your business is interested in this new service, please complete this expression of interest here. If you have a supplier elsewhere in Southeast Asia, please complete the form as well so that we are able to keep you informed of developments.
