New Construction Director Makes Build Quality His Priority

23 January 2017

Redrow's new construction director in Yorkshire is looking to develop a team of award winning site managers and boost customer satisfaction.

Wayne Morris has joined the Wakefield-based business after 10 years with the Barratt group, latterly as construction manager with David Wilson Homes in Yorkshire.

Now 41, he first joined the industry aged 16 as an apprentice joiner and started his climb to management as a trainee assistant site manager with Crest Nicholson.

“I’ve travelled a traditional route to directorship via site manager, contracts manager and construction manager,” Wayne explained.

The opportunity to join Redrow as construction director was too good to miss. They are one of only a small number of companies I would have considered because of their reputation for quality, a great streetscene and excellent design.”

At Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), Wayne will manage a directly employed construction team of around 50 people, including site managers, assistants, forklift truck drivers and office based staff. He will also oversee upwards of 300 sub-contractors working on Redrow developments from Harrogate in the north down to Wickersley in the south, and from Steeton in West Yorkshire across to York.

“Last year Tony Stanley, our site manager at Hall Croft, Wickersley, earned a Seal of Excellence in the NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ awards, placing him in the top 1% of his profession. One of my big ambitions for Redrow in Yorkshire is to encourage more award winning site managers,” Wayne added.

“If all of our site managers are doing their job to the very best of their ability and delivering award winning quality then that will help to ensure that we have nothing but happy customers.”

Originally from Dewsbury, Wayne has lived in Wakefield for the last 10 years and is married with two children aged nine and six months.

Welcoming him to the business, Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) managing director James Poynor said:

“I am absolutely thrilled that Wayne has chosen to join Redrow Yorkshire.  Wayne’s outstanding track record demonstrates a relentless focus on quality and customer satisfaction, which are the exact attributes we were looking for in this critical leadership appointment.   Wayne is the perfect fit for our business and we look forward to celebrating his and his team’s success for many years to come.”
