Release of new European Regional Development Fund, for Yorkshire and Humber Region to support exporters

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), part of the European Structural and Investment Funds programme (ESIF) provides funding to support economic growth in England. The programme focuses on strengthening the regions’ businesses and increasing employment. Companies can access matched financial support to develop exports and generate job creation.

The Department for International Trade Yorkshire and the Humber will deliver a programme of £6.7m of ERDF funding for the Enterprise for Growth programme. The programme will deliver support to both first time exporters and those already exporting, across Leeds & Sheffield City Regions and Humber LEPs, to allow the businesses to grow their success within international markets. Any company looking for funding must be working with the Department for International Trade and support must fit within a company’s overall export strategy.
Export for Growth business suitability
The programme has been designed to provide support for businesses that are new to exporting or those that are already exporting.

The available grants have been split as following:

Development grants – up to £2,000 
Expansion grants – up to £5,000

A business must be a SME (Small and Medium size Enterprise) to receive the support. With Fewer than 250 employees, Not more than 25% of the organisation is owned by an enterprise that in itself is not an SME and Annual turnover does not exceed €50 million OR Annual balance sheet does not exceed €43 million.
