West Yorkshire digital agency Go Media has acquired a counterpart in a deal that will enable it to expand its work with sports teams in the region.

Since 2007, Wakefield-based Go Media has grown from a website provider to a full-service digital agency with clients across the UK.

More recently, the agency has begun creating online products for sports clubs including Featherstone Rovers, Ossett United and Yorkshire Carnegie, under the brand 'Sportals'.

It has acquired Online Data Intelligence, which has been developing ticketing and video on demand (VoD) systems for clubs since 2015.

The deal will enable the Barnsley-based business to offer a more inclusive service to its clients, which include Castleford Tigers, Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity, Hull FC, Huddersfield Giants, Sheffield Eagles and Batley Bulldogs.

Steve Roberts, former managing director at Online Data Intelligence, said: "The software we're currently developing has grown in size and customer base meaning we needed a bigger team to help us make sure every one of my customers kept on receiving the same level of support, as well as the software receiving the right amount of development time to progress beyond expectations.

"I have evaluated many different suitors and a ready-made, highly experienced team, along with a company whose products and ethos closely match my own, seemed like a perfect fit."

Roberts has been appointed chief technology officer (CTO) at Go Media and will support the development of new technologies and business relationships moving forward.
