Bonmarché Experience Growth in Sales

Wakefield based Women’s clothing retailer Bonmarché has seen a significant increase in like for like sales up till the week ending December 27 2014.  Sales increased by 3.8% for the 13 weeks, bringing the figure for the year so far to 6.4%.  With the growth in online sales added total growth for the year so far is up to 8.6%.

Bonmarché now trades from 282 stores a marked increase from the 264 operating in the previous year.  It has seen a huge increase in its online sales rising 41.3% in the five weeks to December 27 and a total rise of 44.4% in the 39 weeks to December 27.

Beth Butterwick chief executive officer of Bonmarché, said:

"We are satisfied with Bonmarché's Q3 performance in a challenging, promotionally-driven market. Gross margins remained under pressure, but we continued to make positive LFL sales gains. Much of the challenge in the clothing market was due to the prolonged mild weather, which began in September and continued until mid-December.

“The Board believes that the year’s performance will be in line with its expectations."
