WAKEFIELD polyurethane moulder PolyGlobal has been recognised for their partnership with Bradford University’s Polymer Interdisciplinary Research facility and won the Insider Made in Yorkshire Collaboration Award.

The Thornes Road based manufacturer of injection and cast moulded components is working with the internationally acclaimed university to test the mechanical performance and integrity of its core range of materials. The partnership has also helped facilitate the launch of Hyperpol, a range of  high-performance polyurethane elastomers.

Utilising the world leading facilities, equipment and knowledge of Bradford University’s Polymer Research Centre, PolyGlobal are creating simulated environments reflecting those experienced in the sectors and industries it supplies to. PolyGlobal are testing the materials’ performance under varying extreme conditions including temperature, pressure, abrasion and chemical exposure.

The aim of the testing is to identify and verify the suitability of specific materials for use in specific environments it will also establish any reasons for the failure of materials.

The results of these tests then enable PolyGlobal to advise and recommend specific materials to customers from an increased technical and performance perspective as well as publish credible data which can be accessed by wider market sectors.  The company is ambitious that Hyperpol will become an industry standard specified material.

Jordan Cook, Managing Director of PolyGlobal said: “PolyGlobal partnered with the Bradford University Polymer Research facility to prove the quality and performance of our materials in harsh global environments.  Winning this award confirms the value that it brings to our products and processes.”

The Insider’s Made in Yorkshire Awards honoured manufacturers from across the Yorkshire region. PolyGlobal are now invited to take part in the Made in the UK Awards in Coventry in June.
