Deadline Extended For Budding Movie Makers

10 December 2014

Budding movie makers throughout West Yorkshire still have time to submit their three minute master pieces to the MCard film competition as the deadline has been extended to Sunday 11 January.

Amateur film producers and wannabe stars of the big screen could be making their debut as West Yorkshire Ticketing Company, the organisation responsible for multi-operator Smart tickets, ask that travellers upload their entries to the website for chances to win.

Building on the success of the Dead Handy Travel campaign, which was launched using a zombie film in April and has attracted more than 20,000 likes, the company is expecting an influx of entries in the run up to the closing date.

With the chance for just one movie maker to showcase their classic at an exclusive viewing to an audience of 40 friends and family at the Everyman cinema in Leeds, all budding blockbusters should be less than 3 minutes, include a reference to travel and use either film or animation to bring the final piece to life.

Adding to the excitement, the first 20 entries to the competition will all receive free travel for a week, with other spot prizes on offer including cameras, smartphones and iPads which are all up for grabs.

Executive Officer of West Yorkshire Ticketing Company, Richard Harris said:

We have already had some great entries to the film competition and have even awarded a spot prize to one that we particularly enjoyed. The race is on and we know that there will be some strong contenders for the Everyman cinema prize.”

The closing date for all entries is now the 11 January with a winner announced shortly after.
