Xamax Make Third ‘Grand’ Gesture To Syria

Xamax, the Wakefield based branded work wear and sports clothing specialist, has supported UK registered charity SKT Welfare for the third time with a £3,000 donation of children’s clothing, bringing their total contributions over the last 12 months to £19,000.
Since 2013 Xamax has worked with SKT Welfare to provide aid for the charity’s project STAND4SYRIA, which has delivered humanitarian relief in Syria since the onset of the crisis.
In 2014 the manufacturer supplied £5,000 worth of children’s clothing, whilst their second donation involved the company printing 11,000 t-shirts which were provided free of charge to help the charity raise vital funds for the scheme.
For their third donation Xamax donated £3,000 worth of clothing including hoodies, t-shirts and trousers, while also offering warehouse space to store toys, dry milk and medical equipment.
Members of the Xamax workforce then spent four hours packing two large containers full of the aid, which when combined is the largest donation to date from the company, before it was shipped to Syria.
Graham Thompson, Managing Director of Xamax, comments:
“SKT is an organisation that is very close to our hearts, which is why we are always keen to offer them our support. We have become firm supporters of the charity over the years and have been privileged enough to see the positive impact that our donations have had on those living in refugee camps.
“What a lot of people don’t realise is that as well as clothing to keep them warm, these children want something to play with – at the end of the day they have the same requirements as any child and toys are a great distraction from the atrocities going on around them. The psychological damage that the crisis is having on these youngsters is far reaching, so being able to offer them the chance to play with toys is immeasurable.”
Asif Hussain, a trustee from SKT Welfare said:
“We would like to thank Graham and the team at Xamax for their continued support over the past few years. All of their donations have significantly impacted on the work that we are able to undertake in Syria and have been of great benefit.
“Without the backing of companies such as Xamax, who are delivering much needed aid to children in Syrian refugee camps, meeting with the needs of those in urgent humanitarian assistance would be impossible.”
Providing more than 16,000 businesses with embroidered and screen printed garments, the company employs 46 staff and has more than 20 years’ experience working within the work wear and sportswear markets.
