Wakefield welcomes Tour de Yorkshire – is your business ready?

The Wakefield district is welcoming the Tour de Yorkshire on Friday 4 May.

The women’s and men’s races will travel through South Elmsall, Ackworth, Pontefract and Castleford as part of Stage 2 of Yorkshire’s famous cycle race.

Spectators will be out in force to celebrate the two races passing through the district, and if your business is celebrating the Tour de Yorkshire, let us know about it by emailing tdy@wakefield.gov.uk

Road Closures and Disruption

There is likely to be significant disruption to local roads along the route throughout the day.

Rolling road closures lasting approximately 50 minutes will be in place along the race route (below) just before and during the two races.

The exit slip roads of the M62 at Junction 32 will also be closed from 9am to 11am and 3pm to 5pm as the women’s and men’s races pass through Pontefract and Castleford. Diversions will be in place.

Businesses are encouraged to plan their day in advance to avoid being affected by the rolling road closures and the closure of the Junction 32 exit slip roads. Spectators are also encouraged to ensure they are in their preferred location in good time.
