TORQUE, END-TO-END SUPPLY-CHAIN SPECIALIST AND HEADLINE SPONSORS OF WAKEFIELD BUSINESS WEEK 2019.

For over 25 years Torque has been taking care of their customers’ supply chains – from ship to store to customer’s doors. Since their modest beginnings in 1991 they have become a name well-recognised within the industry for its expertise and bespoke solutions at scale.

Torque operates in seven locations throughout the UK, with eight Warehouses and over 1100 employees. Torque have two sites within the Wakefield district; Wakefield, Crigglestone which they took over in 2015, securing 100 jobs at the time and now employing 300+ people - they recently expanded the warehouse with an 80,000 sqft extension , providing more space for their growing customer base.

More recently, Torque have taken over a new purpose-built facility in Castleford, a second site in the Wakefield area in just 4 years due to the demand for extra space, with over 30 new warehouse customers going live in the last two years. Torque expect that the new will create a similar number of jobs as the Crigglestone site, 300+.

As more brands grow and innovate the rise for efficient and effective supply chain management has led to a huge rise in demand for solutions to exceed customer and consumer demand, whatever and wherever they may be. Torque has responded to this demand by investing in new sites, technology and its workforce.

The company shows their continuous support for their local community, as the headline sponsor for this year’s “Wakefield Business Week” running from the 17th to the 21st June. The event will bring together those who are passionate about the city and the Wakefield district and celebrate some of our highest performing business and their successes.

Back in 2015 when the supply chain specialist took over their Wakefield, Crigglestone site Torque forged a strong relationship with the Wakefield Council Business Support team who advised on the local area and recruitment. Torque are thrilled to be sponsoring Wakefield Business Week 2019 and they see it as a way to support their local community and offer their knowledge in supply chain and experience as a business to those who are interested.
