Property firm announces 148,000 sq ft expansion of West Yorkshire warehouse portfolio

Property business Onward Holdings Ltd is growing its portfolio of prime sites for warehousing and managed third-party logistics (3PL) services across West Yorkshire.

The latest addition to the company’s 3PL portfolio is a 72,000 sq ft racked space facility in South Kirkby, which will be followed by 66,000 sq ft at Phoenix Park on the Green Lane Industrial Estate, Featherstone.

Onward also has planning permission to build just under 10,000 sq ft of premium open-plan office space at its managed warehouse in Castleford.

The firm has pointed to the proliferation of ecommerce and discount retailers taking up space as a driver of the increased demand for warehousing facilities in the North, combined with the the move towards same-day delivery.

Onward said it is seeking more land near motorway junctions to build additional warehouse and industrial units.

Director Neil Storey commented: “Local authorities face tricky decisions over valuable land resources, but we need to create high quality and strategic logistics and warehousing sites across our region, which will bring long-term benefits and thousands of jobs to local areas.”

Family-run Onward Holdings’ portfolio includes sites in Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Onyx Retail Park at Wath upon Dearne.
