Normanton firm at the forefront of national Manufacturing Award

Normanton based Yorkshire Laser and Fabrication (YLF) has been shortlisted for the UK’s most prestigious manufacturing awards.
The company which specialises in power generation, communications and medical enclosures and brackets has been shortlisted on The Manufacturers MX Awards in the Adding Customer Value category. They will find out if they have been successful at the annual celebration of manufacturing in Liverpool on November 15.
Before that though the family run business will face expert judge delegates from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMECHE) who will visit the West Yorkshire factory to see them in action and grill their management team.
Matt Orford, MD at YLF, said: “We are delighted to have reached the final for such a high-level award and to put Yorkshire on the map. Customer value and experience is something we prioritise at YLF, so we are thrilled to receive industry wide recognition for it.
“We’re not taking a back seat yet though, we’re expecting the next judging process to be even tougher than the last. The judges are going to try to pull us to pieces but I’m excited to demonstrate the exceptional quality and service YLF delivers,” Matt added.
Yorkshire Lasers, which was founded in 2004 is facing stiff competition from companies including BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Accolade Wines. Previous winners include McLaren Automotive which won The Manufacturer of the Year Award in 2017.
Nick Peters, Editorial Director of The Manufacturer, said, “There are dozens of awards programmes in the manufacturing sector, but The Manufacturer MX Awards stands head and shoulders above them all. It’s demanding, but companies embrace it because, perhaps for the first time, they are being benchmarked against the best.
“That is why great companies like McLaren Automotive are so eager to take part, because they know they are being tested in a way no other programme can offer,” he added.
