Mint Support Exceeds Growth Expectations!

Local IT Management support service Mint Support has seen continuous month on month growth of over 30%!

Mint Support work alongside businesses and Schools across the Leeds City Region and has recorded a high increase in demand from schools. The company support primary schools’ IT infrastructures (networks, installations, web design) and is experiencing rapid growth from 26 accounts to over 40 since last summer, predicting year on year growth resulting in £2 million turnover by 2018.

To help with this rapid growth Mint Support approached the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for support and funding to train their staff. Through the LEP’s skills service the company have been awarded funding to train current staff and will continue to recruit higher level apprentices to join their ever growing team and to increase skills in Wakefield!

Matt Driver, added;

“We’ve used the skills service on 3 occasions to deliver a wide range of training, including leadership & management and technical training relevant to a number of operational job roles. It has been a very simple process to apply for and get the funding, plus we’ve been helped all the way through by Wakefield Apprenticeship Hub & the skills service.  This funding has allowed us to fill senior roles with existing staff. As a result we will be recruiting our first Degree Apprentice this year. This person will not only be studying for a degree at University, they will also be working for us full time, and it’s the best of both worlds!”

Because of Mint’s work within schools they have always been engaged with apprenticeships and work experience and are looking to continue this over the next year.

“We get people into the business at a young age. We find that work experience at school helps young people to understand what businesses are looking for, and apprenticeships are a natural progression. In fact a quarter of our workforce has either completed or is on an apprenticeship’’

Through the LEP skills service employers have the opportunity to work with an expert skills advisor to create and implement a training plan for their organisation and apply for funding of up to £50,000 towards the costs of training their staff. There is also support available to source appropriate training provision and with over 500 registered training providers the range of training available is exhaustive. Apprenticeships are available across all sectors up to degree level, and higher apprenticeships are the fastest growing type of apprenticeships. In Wakefield district the number of higher apprenticeships has increased by 120% since 2014.
