Graduate Showcase Joins The Artwalk

A trio of fine art graduates, who are taking part in a much-sought after residency at The Art House, will showcase works inspired and influenced by their month-long stay in the city during the November Artwalk.

The work of Christine Stevens, Kirstie Gould and Tina Mirsharifi will be delivered through video, sculpture and performance.

David Gilbert, Interim Artistic Director at The Art House comments: "Through our graduate residencies we work hard to help emerging artists to kick start their careers. These residencies are really important to us because our artistic programme is as much about giving creative professionals opportunities to develop their practice, explore and experiment as it is about exhibiting finished work.

“Displaying these works through the Artwalk gives members of the public a real insight into the creative journey that each individual goes through when developing each piece - something we feel is vital in giving an understanding and appreciation of contemporary art."

The Artwalk takes place bi-monthly, always on the last Wednesday of the month from 5pm – 9pm. It exists to showcase local, national and international talent in a whole range of settings within Wakefield.

Exhibition spaces range from the traditional art galleries, through to historic buildings, cafes, bars, retail outlets and more. For details of spaces taking place in the Artwalk visit: www.artwalk.org.uk/venues/
