Five Towns Park Showroom Plans Emerge

Plans for a new car showroom to be based at the Five Towns Park development in Castleford have come to light.
Lateral Property group, a property development and investment company specialising in the retail, food store and leisure sectors, has put forward plans for a new car showroom on the development.
The scheme aims to replace the petrol filling station and drive-through restaurant that was initially earmarked for the site.
Planning permission for the wider Five Towns Park development was initially granted in August 2015, but changes to the retail market have caused a rethink for plans.
The 8,000 sq ft (743 sq m) state-of-the-art car showroom would be geared towards meeting the needs of modern car manufacturers and allow them to showcase the latest hybrid and electric vehicles.
While there is currently no occupier legally committed to the proposed car showroom, a total of 39 car parking spaces will be provided.
The designs are taking inspiration from smaller car showrooms in retail spaces, such as the Tesla showrooms in Victoria Quarter in Leeds and Touchwood shopping centre in Solihull.
The design and access statement said: "The trend of car stores within retail destinations is one that is anticipated to continue between now and the opening of the development.
"As a result of this and initial market testing, there is considered to be sufficient market demand for a car showroom use on the subject site.
"The proposed development also offers the opportunity for such a use to be integrated into the development from the start rather than retrofitted as has been required at existing retail destinations."
Five Towns Park is being developed by Lateral Property Group and Leeds-based GMI which recently completed the construction of a 12,000-seat community stadium for Rotherham United Football Club.
The £135m development will create a new 10,000-capacity stadium for Castleford Tigers as well as around 2,000 new permanent jobs and a further 1,100 jobs during construction.
