Employee of the Year announced!

Each year Wakefield Council gives their staff the opportunity to nominate colleagues for a Pride Award, to celebrate the hard work and dedication of thier collegues in delivering excellent service to residents and in this case businesses.

We are delighted to be able to announce that our Business Growth Manager, Pat Coffey, won this year’s Employee of the Year award!

Pat focuses on supporting businesses within the District to unlock their growth potential. He has the ability to make time where none exists, simplify complex challenges and find creative solutions that benefit local businesses.

Since April Pat has helped 27 businesses secure grant funding worth £1.9M, unlocking £75M of private sector investment, creating 1600 jobs locally.

Pat also played an instrumental part in helping businesses affected by severe weather during last year’s Christmas holidays.

Pat made it his personal mission to visit all the flood damaged business in Wakefield, offering support and guidance at an unbelievably difficult time for the owners. He also helped secure and administer a special grant scheme from the Government through Leeds City Region, to get those businesses back on their feet. During this period Pat helped a total of 29 businesses from Wakefield and 43 from Calderdale, securing a total of 200K grant funding for business in West Yorkshire.

This award  is very well deserved and not a surprising achievement for Pat. We are happy and proud to have him in our team.
