Doogood Recycling Celebrates its 1st Birthday in Wakefield

DooGood recycling, a computer and WEEE recycling firm in Ossett, are celebrating their 1st birthday in Wakefield after relocating from Batley to Ossett last year.

The company relocated in November 2015 and since then have had a very successful year, showing a high potential for further growth within the next year.

DooGood have also recently secured a national contract with Interserve Learning & Employment, where they have initially processed over 1,000 pieces of IT equipment, providing secure data destruction, followed by refurbishment and recycling of the items for re-use, enabling DooGood to make a healthy contribution to the clients chosen charity fund.

DooGood likes to give back to the community. They operate a scheme where they partner with local charities such as the Wakefield hospice, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The charity and their supporters that use DooGood’s free service for their data destruction and WEEE Recycling, can also then get 20% of the money raised from any equipment they can refurbish and sell on, donated back to the charity.

Jon Spencer, Managing Director at Doogood commented;

‘’ DooGood was created to try stop as much I.T. equipment as possible from going to landfill and to help the local community by supporting charities and providing employment. We wanted to give something back to the community and feel good about the work we are doing, knowing we are doing something to help raise money for worthy causes …hence the name Doogood! Not only can our clients get their WEEE recycling done for free, but they can also help to raise money for a worthy cause in the process.

We moved to Wakefield because the business community is so different from where we were. Wakefield is buzzing at the moment, there’s a lot of support available from the local council and we proactively get involved in local initiatives, for example we part sponsored Wakefield business Week in June this year and got a great response from exhibiting at the conference. Wakefield just seems to be thriving at the moment, it’s the place to be ’’

So what are the plans for the year ahead?

‘’Doogood already work nationwide, however we would like to get involved with more charities in the future and we plan to hire more staff, including additional apprentices and hopefully expand our premises in the future.’’
