Colletta Smith BBC’s Business & Consumer Affairs Correspondent to compère Wakefield Business Week 2019 Launch!

Economic Strategy one year on!

Monday 17th June 2019 will see one of the most popular and eagerly anticipated events in the Wakefield District's Business Calendar take place. The launch of Wakefield Business week will kick-start the week by focusing on progress made towards delivering the Economic Strategy and setting out the key priorities for the year ahead.

Colletta Smith – BBC Business & Consumer Affairs Correspondent will compère the inaugural opening of the event. Colletta is a presenter of the business news on BBC Breakfast television and is a familiar voice as a presenter on BBC 5Live’s Drive and Wake Up To Money programmes.

In her role as Business & Consumer Affairs Correspondent, Colletta broadcasts to a UK-wide audience across the BBC’s main news outlets on the stories that matter most – how big political and business decisions impact people’s daily life and budgets.

Merran McRae, Chief Executive of Wakefield Council will welcome and open the launch of Business Week 2019 followed by keynote speaker Tom Stannard, Corporate Director for Regeneration and Economic Growth. Tom will be providing an economic update on the delivery of the economic strategy since its launch last year, going on to outline the key priorities for Wakefield for the next year.

This will be followed by a lively Q&A session with a panel of top local businesses from the District. Colletta will compère the launch with key figures include; Alison Rance – Site Director of Coca-Cola European Partners Wakefield, Shirley Woolham - CEO Minster Law Solicitors, Adeem Younis – Director of Penny Appeal and Oliver Winstanley, Head of Business Relations, Torque.

Wakefield has continued to punch well above its weight regionally and the launch event will be a chance to celebrate some early achievements and revisit the challenges ahead!
