Chamber Training and Technology get thumbs up from Maru International

“We know we can always contact the Chamber for any help we need” Says Rebecca Stabb, Ocean Consolidation Operator at Dewsbury-based exporting member, Maru International.
Mid Yorkshire Chamber Marketing Coordinator, Becky Greenhough visited Rebecca to get an understanding of the wealth of benefits which are available to Chamber members. In particular to local exporters such as Maru, who use Chamber international certification services through MY Export Hub.
Maru International is an import and export organisation focused on eastern and western markets, offering air freight, domestic transport, courier services and warehousing facilities.
Maru’s main markets are Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong; they have recently started a new service to Colombo. They aim to continue to successfully build upon their existing international markets.
Rebecca’s work is particularly within the Ocean Consolidation Team; ensuring freight from a number of customers results in full containers to export.
“At Maru, given our competitive position in the marketplace, we can command good prices from shipping lines. This enables us to pass-on to our customer’s price savings, as well as better routes with faster transit times” explained Rebecca.
MY Export Hub offers a range of British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) exporting courses to members and non-members alike, resulting in a qualification. Rebecca gained her qualified status with her Foundation Certificate in exporting this year, the second awarded from the Mid Yorkshire Chamber.
“Having worked in shipping and forwarding for a number of years, I’ve seen constant changes in trade regulations and legislation, and MY Export Hub training courses have assisted me and other colleagues add to our knowledge of international trade. Not only have I increased my exporting knowledge through these various courses, but the training has allowed me to network not only with people from within the same industry, but also with our own customers who also attend the courses. This is great for customer relationships, allowing us to feel more comfortable, and putting a face to the name of our customers. The courses also allow me to run ideas by, and pick the brains of, other attendees from the industry. They allow me to keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulations” Rebecca added.
