Blacker Hall Farm Shop On a Roll

In its fifteenth year of existence the family run Blacker Hall Farm Shop has again been recognised as a leader in the food and farm business after receiving the retailer of the year award at the Farm Business Food and Farming Awards.  The ceremony was held at the Members’ Dining Room at the House of Commons on December 12 with former MP and broadcaster Giles Brandreth.

This gives Blacker Hall Farm a trio of awards for 2014. With their first win in March for UK’s best farm shop from FARMA, the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association, followed by the readers of Yorkshire Life awarding it Farm Shop of the year in September.

The success of the farm shop is evident with thousands of loyal customers who come for a range of almost 80 home made products from its butchery counter, bakery, wine loft and delicatessen.  The site now includes a gift shop and florist.

It was not just the quality of the farm’s products that was recognised but its competitive pricing and excellent customer service.  They were praised by the judges for its “impressive progress in so short a time” and recognised that it is “a phenomenal family business with some great retail figures and very strong sense of style in everything they do”.

Speaking about the latest award, Blacker Hall Farm Shop co-owner Edward Garthwaite said;

“We’re delighted to receive this award, which reflects the hard work of our growing team, all dedicated to producing fantastic food from locally sourced ingredients, and our appreciative and loyal customers.”
