Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor by profession, who has spent the last 20 years working in regeneration. The majority of his career has been in his native Yorkshire working for a range of private and public sector agencies.
He has worked at Wakefield Council since September 2006, initially as Interim Corporate Director for Regeneration and since 2007 as Corporate Director for Regeneration and Economic Growth.
In this role, Andrew oversees the Council’s major regeneration projects, planning and property services, housing and economic development, transportation and highways as well as Wakefield’s growing cultural portfolio and sports facilities.
Andrew has been at the heart of leading Wakefield’s transformation which has included the delivery of three major regeneration projects, including the first phase of the Merchant Gate development, the £300M Trinity Walk Retail Scheme and the Chipperfield designed Hepworth Wakefield, both of which opened in May 2011.
Currently he is leading on the regeneration of Wakefield’s two train stations and a number of other major developments including the delivery of a five-star hotel at Bretton Park.
